Mobile ID (Key App)
Mobile Access Control Using a Smartphone as an ID
Instead of using traditional physical ID media, employees and visitors can use their smartphones and the Key App to check in at access control and time tracking terminals. This simplifies the management and distribution of ID media. Traditional keys or ID cards often need to be handed out and can easily get lost. Replacing keys and changing locks is both costly and time-consuming. With a smartphone as the ID, the key is issued digitally, no longer physically and in a decentralized way. This saves time and money, and smartphones are less likely to be lost. Digital keys are especially useful for remote locations without their own administrative offices. Mobile IDs are also seen as modern and innovative.
Mobile Access Control: Open Doors via App
Users can check in by presenting their smartphone at the access control or time tracking terminal. The reading distance for smartphone check-ins can be configured per terminal in the IF-6040 system. Optionally, doors can open automatically if the “Automatic Door Opening” feature is enabled for long-range access. The app uses Bluetooth® Low Energy for communication on both iOS and Android devices, and also supports Near Field Communication (NFC) on Android.
Registering New Users
Employees and visitors can download and install the app for free from the Apple or Google app stores. They will need registration information generated by the IF-6040 system. Users can then register on their smartphones via a link, QR code, or manual entry.
Mobile and Secure
Once registered, the encrypted mobile ID is securely transferred to the smartphone and updated periodically if needed. All communication between the host system and the smartphone, as well as between the smartphone and the terminal, is end-to-end encrypted. The ID is protected because it is only valid when used with the registered smartphone. All data remains local on your IF-6040 system - no third-party cloud services are required, ensuring full data privacy.
